95 International Proposals to Help Chongqing to Be An International Logistics Hub

Chongqing - The 14th Annual Meeting of the Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Council (CMIA) concluded in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality on September 28, 2019, and collected 95 proposals to help Chongqing build into an international logistics hub in inland China.

95 golden ideas to promote high-quality development of Chongqing

Mr. Zhang Zhikui, Secretary-General of the CMIA annual meeting secretariat and Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce briefed that during the two-day meeting 32 CEOs from Fortune Global 500 and multinational companies gave 95 proposals for Chongqing’s opening-up and development.

This year’s new council members are Jean-Louis Chaussade, Chairman of SUEZ’s Board of Directors, John Z. Zhang, Senior Vice President of Corning Incorporated, Chen Anning, Executive Vice President of Ford, Ng Tian-Chong, Global Vice President and President of Asia Pacific and Japan of BP, Huisen Ji, Global Vice President and President of HPE China and John Wang, Senior Vice President, President of Greater China of Signify. Moreover, SUEZ and Corning Incorporated are newly-added CMIA companies.

During the annual meeting, the consultant companies signed a contract and landed several critical projects in Chongqing, further expanding the development of Chongqing as an international logistics hub in inland China.

Among them, Kawasaki Heavy Industries established the Kawasaki Robotics and Industrial Automation Application R&D Center in Chongqing and held a six-axis robot off-line ceremony. Fanuc held the opening ceremony of its branch in Chongqing as well as new technology and new product launch. AT&S established a high-end semiconductor package carrier board, with an investment of 1.6 billion US dollars, and signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Chongqing University. Ford Motor and Chang’an Automobile signed a comprehensive deepening strategic cooperation and Chang’an Ford Acceleration plan. And the business center of Schneider Electric Innovation Center's will be completed this year.

How to implement these proposals

Since the establishment of CMIA 14 years ago, advisers have provided suggestions on key issues of Chongqing's economic and social development, and have put forward more than 900 constructive proposals, which have been adopted into more than 200 policy measures.
The CMIA companies cooperate with Chongqing based-companies such as SK Hynix semiconductors, HP laptops., and Ford vehicle manufacturing, on 38 major projects.

These projects have attracted more than 1/3 of the total foreign investment in the city, and more than 100 of Global 500 enterprises have based in Chongqing, covering fields such as automobile, energy, chemical, finance, logistics, laptops, and intelligent manufacturing.

15th CMIA to be held next September

The 15th annual meeting of CMIA will be held from September 20 to 21, 2020.

Next year’s theme is to "build a pioneer of opening-up in hinterland China and upgrade the level of Chongqing's internationalization." It's an extension of this year's theme- Building an Inland International Logistics Hub: Global Experiences and Chongqing’s Way.
