During the press conference of the Position Paper release Ceremony, Adam Dunnett, the Secretary-General of EUCCC, said that this year’s Position Paper focuses in particular on the need for state-owned enterprises reforms, which are crucial to the country’s future development. According to the Secretary-General, while China’s market continues to inch open to foreign investment and the business environment marginally improves year after year, there are still many problems that need to solve. Fortunately, some of China’s top leaders have recently been discussing the idea of ‘competitive neutrality’ – that all companies should be afforded equal treatment irrespective of ownership type. Making this concept reality and embarking on a program of systemic SOE reform will be vital in making the most of China’s entrepreneurial potential and accelerating its development.
At the question of the business environment in Chongqing and Southwest China, Mr. Dominik Widmer, the vice president of Southwest Chapter of EUCCC, told the press that Chongqing’s infrastructure construction over the past 10 years such as airport, high-way, China Railway Express from Chongqing to Europe has been great, which helps to connect Chongqing to the world. The connectivity brings visibility to Chongqing and brings enormous opportunities for foreign investment.
