Automatic parking: 1st step towards the smart future

On 24th Oct. in Xiantao Data Valley, Changan`s new model CS75 Plus and the 10-year experienced driver had a test drive and a “parking match”.

The match is a parallel parking with a parking space that is only 70 cm wider than the vehicle body. The front and rear bodies are crowded into parts. the driver was familiar with the direction. The first time he entered the parking lot, the collision warning sounded, and he corrected it for 2 minutes and adjusted for 2 minutes. It took more than 4 minutes to park the car in the parking space. It seems that the driver almost hit the front and rear sides of vehicle.

In Changan`s turn, the staff had the phone to control the automatic parking, after tapping the app, the Changan CS75PLUS began to pull the steering wheel by itself, and the performance was unloaded into the parking lot. After the vehicle first identifies the best storage location, it drove to the lot directly. After two or three times of adjustment, the entire vehicle is parked between the front and rear vehicles, and the whole operation is only about 50 seconds.

Liang Fenghua, senior manager of Changan Automobile Intelligent Research Institute, said that the reason why Changan CS75 PLUS can have such a performance is inseparable from numerous technical accumulations and algorithm optimization. In the automatic parking function, unlike other production cars on the market, which only rely on ultrasonic waves, this car has a leading edge in sensing, introducing image recognition, including identification of parallel, vertical and parking lines for pedestrians, vehicles, etc. The induction of dangerous targets, the search for parking spaces and safety have a good guarantee.
