At 2:50 pm on October 27, an Airbus A320 landed slowly at Wushan Airport, marking the successful first flight of the Yantai-Wushan-Chongqing air route. The traffic distance from Yantai to Wushan has since been shortened to 2 hours and 10 minutes.

The Yantai-Wushan-Chongqing air route is the second domestic air route after the Wushan Airport is completed and put into operation, as well as the first air route for Wushan to go out of the Three Gorges and even Chongqing towards the whole country.

The opening of the air route will significantly shorten the time and space distances between the Three Gorges Reservoir Region and the economically and socially developed areas and thus will considerably enhance the accessibility to the Three Gorges Reservoir Region. Tourists from Japan and South Korea visit the Three Gorges Reservoir Region via the Shandong Peninsula, which can realize the in-depth cooperation between the tourism departments of the two places in tourism marketing and tourism product development. China Eastern Airlines is in charge of this route, with four shifts flying each Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The airplane model is Airbus A320, with the flight number of Yantai-Wushan-Chongqing as MU9985, and Chongqing-Wushan-Yantai as MU9986. It takes off from Yantai at 12:30 and lands in Wushan at 14:40, or takes off from Chongqing at 17:45 and lands in Wushan at 18:40, or takes off from Wushan at 19:45 and areas in Yantai at 21:45.
