Chongqing — The 2019 Chongqing-Singapore International E-sports Carnival & First Chongqing Electronic Sports Contest kicked off at Chongqing Guotai Arts Center on November 17, 2019. Local team, Suiyue Jingji from Chongqing, won the championship after beating team CIR from Singapore.
"This competition will help strengthen cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Singapore and attract more young people to pay attention to Chongqing, visit Chongqing in a way favored by teenagers." Qin Dingbo, the vice director of the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Committee, said.
A growing number of people integrate sports with tourism as the former becomes more diversified. The Carnival turned a large e-sports contest into an event with players as the leading actors and the public as the participants. Combining sports and cultural tourism, Chongqing explores a new way of development.
Feng Timo, a famous singer, and CKG48, a Chinese idol group, supported the exciting contest with great performances. More than e-sports fans from Chongqing and Singapore, the Carnival attracted waves of amateur players all across the country. When asked whether it was worth coming all the way for the contest, they answered: “Of course, we can take this opportunity to visit the city anyway.”
On November 17, the exhibition area of “Visit Chongqing” Public Service Platform, which offers a full picture of Chongqing’s tourism information and travel routes, stood outside the Guotai Arts Center. The Platform facilitates visitors in information search and selection, serving them with different functions, which shorten the information collection time and optimize tourism experience in Chongqing.
The model of cultural tourism + Internet will be further upgraded. By then, AI equipment and self-services, backed by smart tourism applications and 5G experience, are going to be woven into conference interpreting, field visit, promotion, scenic area introduction, reception, and other aspects. Moreover, Chongqing will use smart technologies to display its cultural tourism features, realizing a new cooperation model of cultural tourism + Internet.
