By JIEYU WANG|Dec 11,2019

Chongqing was rated as Top 10 Prosperous Cities in China, together with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and so on at the 2019 China Urban Development Forum in the New Era co-hosted by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Renmin University of China on December 6. Chongqing’s Four Levels of Instructor System for Domestic Waste Sorting and Bishan District’s Home of Enterprises were awarded the innovation model of the management of China’s prosperous cities and the innovation model of optimizing business environment for China’s prosperous cities respectively.

The 2019 China Urban Development Forum in the New Era opened in Chongqing.

This survey covers 100 large and medium-sized cities, with adopted methods including public inquiry, sample survey, and big data collection, involving over 2.8 million people.

The Survey Report on 2019 China’s Urban Prosperity Index, which detailed the ranking and analysis of the cities on the list, was released at the Forum. The report also highlights Chongqing’s excellent performance in high-quality development, high-level opening-up, and improvement in the business environment, urban quality, and people’s livelihood in recent years. Chongqing ranked second on the list in terms of the index of urban environmental recognition.

Wu Jiaxin, Secretary-General of China Urban Prosperity Index Survey and Evaluation Committee, associated Chongqing’s higher ranking with its enthusiastic attitude towards foreign tourists.

During this National Day, Chongqing’s Hongyadong, Chaotianmen, and other scenic spots were crowded with more than 38 million foreign tourists, more than its total registered population. To create a better traveling experience for them, Chongqing’s relevant departments sent short messages to call on citizens to avoid the above-mentioned hot spots as much as possible, which got positive responses.

“This move shows the hospitable character of Chongqing people and the city’s attraction to foreign tourists.” Wu Jiaxin said that recent years had witnessed Chongqing’s significant improvement in its urban environment. What impressed her is the “street office.”

To make urban management more convenient, efficient, and better, the municipal administration sets its office on the street.

“According to the survey, Chongqing citizens have a powerful sense of urban belonging, thanks to the effective implementation of the aforementioned measure. Therefore, Chongqing is on a par with other prosperous cities in terms of urban environmental recognition,” Wu Jiaxin said so.
