On Dec. 18, the CICA Senior Officials Committee Conference was held in Chongqing. Representatives from ASEAN member countries such as China, India, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia, and South Korea attended the meeting.

The CICA Senior Officials Committee is the main body to implement the consensus and decisions of the CICA and the Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

Li Hui, a Special Envoy for Eurasian affairs of the Chinese government, said that after years of development, CICA has become Asia's most widely covered, and the largest number of members, and most representative security forum, playing an increasingly important role in regional and international affairs.

Li Hui said that in recent years, the exchanges and cooperation among Asian countries have been expanding, and the degree of interdependence and interest blending has deepened. Asia has become the world's most dynamic and potential development highland. In the current international and regional situation, the factors of instability and uncertainty are more prominent, and the common challenges in Asia have continued unabated. Under the new situation, all parties should strengthen communication, deepen cooperation, and jointly safeguard security and development interests. China has always been an active advocate, participant, and promoter of regional cooperation in Asia. China is willing to continue to work with all parties to put the CICA`s concept into action, maintain stability, and build development together.

Habibullo Mirzozoda, Executive Director of the CICA Secretariat, introduced the work of the CICA Secretariat this year to representatives of participating member countries. He said that since 2007, the CICA Secretariat has held 42 special workshops and high-level official meetings. "We hope to continue this tradition and hold more fruitful special workshops and high-level official meetings in the future. "
