Rapture Hongyadong was produced by world-class experts from Chongqing Huanqiu Shihua Culture and Media Company and Chongqing Peking Opera Troupe with two-year efforts. The light comedy tries to unveil culture in Chongqing via “stage play + presentation skills of sound, light, and electricity.” The story is triggered off by a conflict between Xiaoyou, an online tourism celebrity from Northeast China, and Hong Jialing, inheritor of Hong Family Hotpot. Through the history of the Hong Family’s hotpot, this show uses diversified performance types to demonstrate historical changes in Hongyadong over the past 100 years. Making full use of the theater and affiliated spaces, Rapture Hongyadong wants to create an innovative operation model integrating performance, tourism, and cultural creation. With such efforts, traditional performance can be upgraded to cultural tourism experience programs. Relying on the construction of cultural brands and a combination of cultural tourism resources, related parties strive to build a great stage play featuring local Bayu art and the unity of plots, music, and scenes.

The play incorporates Bayu culture and hotpot culture, highlights the profound historical and cultural background of Chongqing, reveals changes in this Mountain City, and displays characters of Chongqing people, such as toughness, inclusiveness, and straightforwardness. It also improves the cultural connotation of Hongyadong, a popular tourist destination in Chongqing. As a new work, Rapture Hongyadong will further boost integrated development of cultural tourism, stimulate the construction of a demonstration project for the night cultural tourism economy, and encourage the development of Hongyadong into a worldwide recognized tourist destination.

The show will present Chongqing culture and display characters of Chongqing people
