In the downtown and west area of Chongqing, for example, in January-November 2019, 173,700 tons of carbon emissions from household waste were reduced by landfill, down 29.15% year on year; and 512,600 tons of carbon emissions from household waste were reduced by WTE process, up 61.42%.

This year, the fourth waste incineration plant (Luoqi Waste Incineration Power Plant) in downtown Chongqing will be put into use, said the bureau. By then, 100% of wastes in downtown Chongqing will be processed by WTE plants, thus achieving zero landfills of raw refuse. That means Chongqing will further enhance the reduction of carbon emissions from household waste.
