Chongqing - The 3rd Session of the 5th Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress will be held from January 11 to 15, officially lasting for four and a half days, according to Zhang Lianghao, Press Spokesman and Director of the Research Office of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress. The conference contains seven major tasks, and the meeting on January 15 will have an election.

A total of 853 deputies to the Fifth Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress are scheduled to attend the conference. They constitute 39 delegations, including 38 delegations from districts and counties (autonomous counties) and one from the Chongqing Armed Police Corps.

Seven major tasks

The conference has seven major tasks:

1. Hearing and deliberating the work report of Chongqing Municipal Government;

2. Reviewing and approving reports on the execution of the Plan for National Economy and Social Development 2019 and the Draft Plan for National Economy and Social Development 2020; approving the Plan for National Economy and Social Development 2020;

3. Reviewing and approving reports on the execution of the Budget 2019 and the Draft Budget 2020; approving the municipal budget for 2020;

4. Hearing and deliberating the work report of the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress;

5. Hearing and deliberating the work report of Chongqing Municipal High People’s Court;

6. Hearing and deliberating the work report of Chongqing Municipal People’s Procuratorate;

7. Others.

The conference is set to be held from January 11 to 15 and will be in session for four and a half days. The conference registration is scheduled for January 9; the preparatory meeting is scheduled for the afternoon of January 10; the opening ceremony will commence on the morning of January 11; the closing ceremony will begin on the morning of January 15. The 3rd plenary session will be held before the closing ceremony. The agenda contains an election, voting for draft resolutions, etc.
