Chongqing- According to Yu Jiping, Spokesman and Deputy Secretary-General of the CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee, the 3rd Session of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee will be held from January 10 to 14, 2020. During the 4.5-day meeting, eight agendas will be arranged, and new members of the Standing Committee of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee will be elected.

The meeting to open on Friday morning

According to the decision made at the 10th Session of the Standing Committee of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee, the 3rd Session of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee will open on the morning of January 10 and close on the morning of January 14. Each of the opening ceremony, the meeting of NPC deputies, the conference address, the election, the closing ceremony, and the joint group discussion takes half a day, respectively. And the group discussion takes two days.

Eight agendas arranged 

Mr. Yu said that this meeting plans to organize eight agendas:

(I) Listen to and deliberate the work report of the Standing Committee of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee;

(II) Listen to and deliberate the work report of the Standing Committee of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee on the work of proposals since the 2nd Session of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee;

(III) Attend the 1st Plenary Meeting of the 3rd Session of the 5th Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress;

(IV) Consult and discuss the work report, plan report and financial report of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, the work report of Chongqing Municipal Superior People’s Court and the work report of the People’s Procuratorate of Chongqing Municipality;

(V) Elect new members of the Standing Committee of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee;

(VI) Deliberate and adopt the resolution on studying and implementing the spirit of the Central Conference on CPPCC Work and the spirit of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee of strengthening and improving the conference on CPPCC work in the new era;

(VII) Deliberate and adopt the resolution of the 3rd Session of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee on the work report of the Standing Committee of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee;

(VIII) Deliberate and adopt the resolution of the 3rd Session of the 5th CPPCC Chongqing Municipal Committee.

There will be about 1,200 participants in total. Consuls of foreign consulates in Chongqing will be invited to be visitors at the meeting.  More than 200 journalists from 41 domestic and international media will be invited to publicize and report on the meeting.

Press conference on Chongqing's roles to be held

Yu Jiping introduced essential activities during this meeting. The activities include the opening ceremony of the meeting, opening ceremony of the meeting of NPC deputies, the conference address, the joint group discussion, on-site handling of the proposal, the meeting of the municipal leaders of Chongqing with the committee members from Hong Kong and Macao and special guests from Taiwan, the election, and the closing ceremony of the meeting.

Moreover, on the morning of January 13, the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee will organize a special press conference, at which NPC Chongqing deputies and CPPCC Chongqing members will offer advice and suggestions on “playing ‘three roles.’”
