Government departments: build an opening-up portal in inland China 

“Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle introduces significant strategic opportunities on development and opening-up to Liangjiang New Area. The state-level new area is going to exert its competitiveness in strategies, reform, and innovation to pioneer and lead the formation of an important growth pole for high-quality development in western China,” said Wang Zhijie, Deputy Secretary of Party Working Committee of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area and Deputy Director of Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee.

Zheng Hang, Executive Deputy Director of the CFTZ Office in Liangjiang New Area (China-Singapore Office), said they would actively play a part in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and drive the formation of a significant growth pole for high-quality development in western China. He also suggested that Liangjiang New Area avail itself of its global resources in opening-up and cooperation, integrate industrial parks established with other countries, foreign-invested companies and foreign institutions, and invite countries along the Belt and Road to collaborate in economic and trade exchanges, cultural tourism and sister city coordination.

Liu Ming, Director of Chongqing Ecology and Environment Bureau (Liangjiang New Area Branch), considered Chengdu-Chongqing Area enjoyed a tremendous natural environment and was crucial to the ecological shelter zone in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. He urged Liangjiang New Area to prioritize environmental and green development and contribute to the construction of a high-quality living environment in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

Yu Rui, Deputy Director of Liangjiang New Area Construction Administration Center, proposed to establish expansive channels, improve transportation infrastructure construction in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and deepen connectivity.

Enterprise representatives: realize resource platform sharing

Xie Jing, Deputy General Manager of Liangjiang New Area Industrial Development Group, unveiled that Liangjiang New Area’s Digital Economy Industrial Park had welcomed nearly 4,500 related companies, and the industry had been a powerful economic engine for the area. She stressed cooperation in grasping opportunities, developing the digital economy industrial cluster, transferring scientific and technological results, and promoting innovative talent communication.

Wang Fei, President of Liangjiang New Area Cooperative Innovation District Construction Investment Development Co., Ltd., said Liangjiang Cooperative Innovation District was a vital platform for Chongqing to pool competitive resources and stimulate deep integration of production, learning, research, and application.

Tang Zhi’an, Member of Party Committee and Vice General Manager of Chongqing Guoyuan Container Terminal Co., Ltd., confirmed that Guoyuan Port had established a completed multimodal transport system and signed port cooperation agreements with several cities in Sichuan Province. The Port would contribute to the sharing of people, goods, funds, and information concerning ports and realize cooperation in such fields.

Yang Chunlin, Senior Vice President of BBD, said the company would pay great attention to the innovative development of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and made full use of its technological and talent strengths in big data, AI and blockchain, in a bid to accelerate transformation of government enterprises, industrial upgrading, and innovative growth of digital economy in western China.
