Chongqing- On the morning of January 8, 2020, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development and the Service Platform for Industrial Projects of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism jointly held the Service Platform for Industrial Projects of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism: The 17th Exchange and Matchmaking Meeting on Excellent Projects (Promotion on Key Projects of Chongqing’s Cultural and Tourism Industry in Bishan District. Twenty-one, cultural tourism projects, amounting to RMB 46 billion were signed at the conference.

So far, Chongqing has convened two sessions of matchmaking conferences, where over 250 projects involving over RMB 300 billion were introduced. The Conference has become an important platform for Chongqing’s cultural tourism sector to communicate and align with the cultural tourism resources across the country, as well as an essential approach to boost the quality growth of the industry.

“To perfectly integrate culture and tourism, we need to produce new tourism products by combining different cultural elements with raising their cultural attractiveness and expansion force,” said Zhu Mao, Deputy Director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development.

21 projects, totaling RMB 46 billion

The 21 cultural tourism projects signed involve cultural tourism cinema cities, rehabilitation & recreation zones, art towns, extreme mountain sports, etc., totaling RMB 46 billion.

Among them, China Xianxia Wenlv Cinema City saw a total investment of more than RMB 20 billion. Based in Chongqing, the project targets the international market and features film & TV, tourism, resorts, recreation, sightseeing, and intelligent manufacturing of cultural and creative products. Covering approx. 333.33ha, the project sits in Fulu Town, Bishan District, Chongqing.

Another notable project Lengshui Recreational Business Zone involves a total investment of RMB 12 billion. Based on the high-altitude summer resort Lengshui Town, the project features beautiful natural landscapes, food, hot springs, and folk customs. It will be built into a recreational summer retreat with vacation and relaxation facilities, featured folk customs, and ecological residential areas.

Roadshow to reveal Bayu cultural charm

Nine culture and tourism integration development projects including Chongqing Cultural Tourism Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park, Wolong Recreational Town, and Chongqing Xianxia Wenlv Cinema City staged roadshows and virtual displays at the conference.

A total of 121 choice cultural tourism industry projects amounting to an RMB 100 billion investment were promoted at the conference. The projects promoted are expected to unleash the potential of the cultural tourism sector and foster new drivers for the economy.

In addition, Chongqing Cultural Tourism Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park was inaugurated at the conference. The industrial park lies in Bishan High-tech Industrial Development Zone and involves a total investment of RMB 10 billion. It is projected to be a regional landmark integrating office buildings, creativity, manufacturing, R&D, and electronic sports sectors, a first-rate application R&D center, and a smart manufacturing innovation platform in Chongqing.

Chongqing’s cultural sector is estimated to achieve an added value of RMB 69 billion in 2019, a 9.2% increase from the previous year. Throughout 2019, the city received 657 million visitors from home and abroad and total revenue of RMB 573.4 billion from tourism, up 10%, and 32% from 2018.
