Chongqing- A high standard science city is set to be built in Chongqing, southwest China, to develop high-tech industries, incubate innovative enterprise and provide large-scale scientific facilities, cluster key laboratories, and furthermore, to provide quality workforce in the city. The 2020 Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Work Report released by Tang Liangzhi, mayor of  Chongqing provides details plans on taking science and technology innovation as the core driving force for high-quality development, on January 11, 2020.

Chongqing will make an all-round innovation effort focusing on scientific and technological innovation, to make innovation a driving force for high-quality development. Chongqing will intensify the implementation of the Action Plan to Invigorate Chongqing through Science and Education and Developing a Quality Workforce expedite improving its scientific and technological strength and innovation capability and reshape a “made-in-Chongqing” ecosystem via “Chongqing’s innovation.”

Chongqing will strengthen its innovation platforms. Chongqing will plan and construct Chongqing Science City at a high standard. It will focus on the science subject of “building the foundation,” “build the city,” towards the future, and create an ecosystem of innovation. The city will develop high-tech industries, incubate innovative enterprise, and make plans to build large-scale scientific facilities, and it will cluster key laboratories and endeavor to build a city of science and a leader of innovation. Chongqing will deepen the innovative growth of development zones in Chongqing, establish a sound collaborative management mechanism for Chongqing High-tech Industrial Development Zone, and expand the development space of Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone. Chongqing will improve the functions of Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone, speed up the construction of the National Airport Economy Demonstration Zone and strive to obtain national high-tech zone approvals for Tongnan, Tongliang, Fuling, and other districts and enhance various development zones’ abilities in continuous innovation, resource integration, industry generation, and economic output. Chongqing will accelerate building scientific and technological innovation bases and boost the construction of critical sci-tech infrastructures such as China General Population Resource Library Chongqing Center. It will establish a national manufacturing innovation center for characteristic integrated circuit process and package test, a national swine industry technology innovation center, and a national new-generation AI innovation & development pilot zone.
