Liangjiang Movie City lifted the curtain on the “New Year Folk Culture Tourism Season” on January 17, inviting citizens and tourists to enjoy folklore, seek entertainment, go shopping, and watch movies to experience the appeal of Chongqing in early 20th century.

Bench dragons

A dozen traditional Chinese folk performances, such as bench dragons, cow lantern operas, dancing with bamboo horses, land boats, changing faces, and spitting fires, were staged in various areas of the scenic spot. With the real experience of traditional Chinese folk culture, the event has pooled the acclaim of citizens and tourists at the scene. Some tourists said that these programs embodied the charm of folk culture and oozed the unique flavor of Chinese New Year.

Dancing with bamboo horses

Since last year, aiming to transform tourists from traditional passive viewing to active experience, Liangjiang Movie City has introduced increasingly diversified activities, converting isolated performances to immersive scene experience.

This year, the Tree God Street Market has sprung up in Liangjiang Movie City, which collects scores of traditional special snacks. For example, visitors have access to the popcorn full of memories, the chewy dried bean curd with an annual sales of 100 tons, the interactive experience of making glutinous rice cake, and the crispy fried potato.
