Many museums and art galleries in Chongqing have launched wonderful exhibitions and experience activities for the Spring Festival holiday, inviting citizens to experience the intense festive atmosphere in the city’s cultural “reception room.”
The year 2020 is the year of Geng-Zi or the year of the Rat. Quite a few museums have launched rat-themed exhibitions, allowing citizens to learn the cultural connotation of the rat.
In the exhibition of Celebrate the New Year of the Rat launched by Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, more than 90 exhibits, including New Year pictures, sapphire accessories, and farmers’ paintings, are available for citizens. The picture exhibition of The Rat Brings Wealth in Chongqing Natural History Museum comprises hundreds of pictures of the rat related cultural relics, artworks, and specimens.
Many museums have launched the folk culture exhibition, with a robust Spring Festival atmosphere. The folk culture exhibition of Fruitful Year of the Rat held by Dadukou Museum tells about the inheritance and evolution of Chinese traditional festival culture in Sichuan and Chongqing through three parts, namely the Spring Festival source tracing, the stories of zodiac animals and the Chinese New Year’s customs.
There are also ideal places for enthusiasts of the art of painting and calligraphy. Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, Chongqing Art Museum, Wang Qi Art Museum, and some other museums have gathered numerous famous artists.
Note: Almost all the above museums and art galleries will be closed on Chinese New Year’s Eve, and all of them will be opened from the 1st to the 6th days of the first lunar month.
