Chongqing New Coronavirus Update: 35 Newly Confirmed Cases Reported, A Municipal Medical Team with 144 Staff Went to Hubei

Chongqing - Chongqing Municipal Health Commission announced January 27 morning that 110 confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), including 13 in serious conditions, and one in critical condition had been reported in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality by the end of January 26.

Until now, 1,106 people who had close contact with the patients in Chongqing have been traced, twenty-one of them were removed from medical observation, seven of them were confirmed cases, and 1,078 people still under medical observation.

Chongqing’s important notices to prevent the further transmission of 2019-nCoV

Compulsory quarantine measures shall be adopted for confirmed cases, and suspected cases and standardized medical observations shall be carried out for close contacts.
  • Centralize designated hospitals, outstanding experts, and medical resources to make every effort to treat confirmed patients. Strengthen the safety protection of medical personnel.
  • Strengthen the control of production and procurement of medical supplies to meet the needs of epidemic prevention. Meanwhile, strengthen the quantity of living provisions to ensure a stable and orderly market supply. Strengthen medical waste disposal and guide citizens to dispose of protective equipment such as discarded masks properly.
  • Strengthen market supervision, prohibit the sale of wild animals and their products, and severely crack down on illegal trafficking, processing, and management of wild animals. Moreover, severely crack down on rumors, price hikes, hoarding goods, making fake sales and other illegal the behavior of crimes and disrupt social order.
  • Release information in accordance with laws and regulations to ensure that information is open, transparent, timely, and accurate.

Furthermore, from noon on January 27, 2020, Chongqing will suspend the operation of inter-provincial road passenger shuttle buses and inter-provincial passenger charter cars.

144 from Chongqing Municipal Medical Team went to support Hubei

The medical team is composed of medical staff from 11 tertiary hospitals, including the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and Chongqing University Cancer Hospital, and more. The team has a total of 144 people, mainly experts in disciplines such as respiratory medicine, infectious disease, and critical medicine. The medical team will go to the leading hospitals in Xiaogan Hubei, where they have a large number of patients with 2019-nCoV for the treatment of patients with new coronavirus-infected pneumonia.
