Chongqing - The donations that Uruguay has confirmed to China include medical supplies provided by the Ministry of Public Health of Uruguay and the provincial governments of Lavalleja, San José and Paysandú, as well as Uruguayan companies such as CONAPROLE (leading exporter of dairy products in Latin America), URUFOR SA and SANFER.
The Consulate General of Uruguay in Chongqing has been actively coordinated with the Uruguay Embassy in Beijing, the Uruguayan Foreign Affairs Ministry, and the provincial governments of San José and Lavalleja and managed to make sure that the donation from these departments will make to the Municipality of Chongqing and Sichuan respectively.
Uruguayan government authorities and many Uruguayan friends of China and especially of Chongqing, express their support to the Chinese people through encouragement videos.

Ms. Agustina Casavalle, the Deputy Consul General of Uruguay to Chongqing, spoke highly of China's efforts to contain the COVID-19. She said, "The Chinese government has been adopting measures with impressive speed and efficiency. The authorities have reacted quickly, making great efforts to control the situation by controlling transportation, identifying symptoms, and clearly communicating with the people."
During the epidemic, Ms. Casavalle stays and keeps working in Chongqing. The office routine of the Consulate General has changed a lot since last month. Some staff back to Chongqing had to take quarantine at home. But the rest still managed to keep daily work going and went to the office if necessary. According to her, Chongqing Municipal Government is extremely dedicated to informing the consulates established in Chongqing and Chengdu, through meetings or sending reports periodically. "We received donations of face masks and disinfectants from the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing, which shows the deep concern for the health of those who decided to stay in Chongqing." She said.
Ms. Casavalle is also very impressed with the efforts made to educate people about the best health protection measures during the epidemic. She emphasized that Chinese people, in general, have been behaving with great patience and willingness to cooperate, and all have stayed united to fight the virus. "That is remarkable, and we are also learning from that." She said.
