Foreign Ministry: preposterous and ridiculous for China to apologize for the outbreak

It's everyone's battle to fight against COVID-19. The spokesperson pointed out that the World Health Organization has said on many occasions that "stigmatization is more dangerous than the virus itself." "There is simply no basis and no reason to push China for an apology. It is yet undetermined where the virus originated." He added, "In its efforts to fight off the epidemic, China has conducted itself as a responsible country. China's signature strength, efficiency, and speed in this fight have been widely acclaimed."

According to the regular press conference, to date, leaders of over 170 countries and heads of more than 40 regional and international organizations sent messages, called China. They issued statements to express sympathy and support for China. These leaders also commended China for its effective and extraordinary response and enormous sacrifice.

WHO launches social media campaign, urging people to be safe, smart and informed

At the media briefing on COVID-19 on Thursday, the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, "WHO has launched a new social media campaign called Be Ready for COVID-19, which urges people to be safe, smart and informed. There's still a lot we don't know, but every day we're learning more, and we're working around the clock to fill in the gaps in our knowledge. "

Apart from that, the WHO chief called on "every country to act with speed, scale, and clear-minded determination." He added, "Countries have been planning for scenarios like this for decades. Now is the time to act on those plans. These are plans that start with leadership from the top, coordinating every part of the government, not just the health ministry – security, diplomacy, finance, commerce, transport, trade, information, and more – the whole government should be involved."
