To promote the recovery of business economics influenced by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), boost consumer confidence, and stabilize consumer expectations, Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, organize “ten-one” activities. Themed on “Spring Blossoms, Pleasant Life,” 10 categories are included, namely eating Xiao Mian (Chongqing Noodles), having hot pot, going to the beauty salon, buying poverty-relief products, enjoying a delicacy, strolling in the mall, visiting the car market, ordering products online, drinking afternoon tea, and reading in the bookstore.
These activities will introduce the resumption of work, production, and consumption of consumer services closely related to public life. As the showcase of new products, new service, and fresh look, they can attract people to see spring blossoms and enjoy a pleasant experience.
On March 18, the second themed activity—“eating hot pot” kicked off. Guided by Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, Chongqing Hotpot Association recommended 210 reopened hot pot restaurants of 93 well-known brands in Chongqing, aiming to advocate citizens to eat out for hot pot.
According to the statistics, from January 26 to March 17, about 200 hot pot restaurants in Chongqing, through take-away services, gained a total of 120,000 orders, with a transaction value of about RMB 13.6 million.
As the prevention and control of COVID-19 are getting better, the hot pot enterprises in Chongqing, based on their actual operation, have made strict measures for resuming work, and recovered dine-in services successively. Meanwhile, the association organized members to make safety commitments to the public on ten aspects of safe epidemic prevention, including information publicity, procurement of food materials, and hygienic management of operation and processing sites.
Hot pot, one of the brightest characteristics of Chongqing, plays a significant role in the catering industry. The statistics show 28,000 hot pot restaurants in Chongqing have provided jobs for about 600,000 people and achieved an annual output value of RMB 40 billion.
