A smart community refers to a modern residential area with intelligent buildings. It is the combining use of advanced technologies including the internet, big data and cloud computing to provide government information, logistics information, property service and commercial service, thus creating a modern and smart living environment with safety, comfort and convenience. The city’s evaluation criteria for smart communities include communication infrastructure, public application system, home application system and the public service platform for communities, with three star-rated levels.

To date, 137 smart communities have been built in Chongqing since its official launch to build smart communities in March 2018. Among them, 60 ones were built in 2018 and 77 in 2019. Of the 137 smart communities, there are 65 one-star communities, accounting for 47.5%, 58 two-star ones for 42.3%, and 14 three-star ones for 10.2%.

As for the daily operation and maintenance and better management after the completion, all the property service enterprises involved are required to establish and improve operation and management mechanisms for smart communities, and train professionals for the operation and maintenance of intelligent equipment.
