On March 25, Chongqing held a video and audio conference on 2020 Chongqing Industry and Information Technology, Integrated Civil-Military Development & Investment Attraction. According to it, the city plans to realize a 6% increase in the value-added of industrial enterprises above the designated-size, carry out 1,250 smart projects, build 100 digital workshops and 10 smart factories.

Thanks to the action plan on innovation-driven development strategy, which is led by the big data intelligence, Chongqing obtained satisfying results in the industrial economy last year. For example, the value-added of industrial enterprises above the designated size was up 6.2%, a year-on-year growth of 5.7 percentage points; the industrial investments increased by 8.8%, 4.5 percentage points higher than the national average level; the value-added of the strategic emerging manufacturing industry increased by 11.6%.

“Industrial economy of Chongqing is severely influenced by the COVID-19 this year. We now are making every endeavor to catch up on work, to realize the value-added of industrial enterprises above the designated size increases by 3% in the first half and 6% by the end of 2020.” Chen Jinshan, Director of Chongqing Economy and Informatization Commission, said the city would avail itself of the major strategic opportunity brought by the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, facilitate the coordinated development of “one area and two clusters”, continuously implement the big data intelligence development strategy, and build itself into an important city of smart manufacturing and a place renowned for the smart industry.

Additionally, Chongqing highlights five areas in developing the industrial economy, namely fostering strategic emerging industrial clusters, developing key pillar industries, improving enterprises’ innovative capabilities, expanding capacity and coverage of smart manufacturing, and promoting the production-oriented service industry.
