Furthering the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle is conducive to fostering a crucial growth pole for high-quality development in western China and building a strategic pioneer for opening-up in inland China. Chongqing has made great efforts and achieved practical results in strengthening the construction of transportation infrastructure. In this regard, Chongqing has opened major multi-directional routes from the city, improved the level of transportation connectivity in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, and built an international shipping and logistics hub.

Chongqing to make a big move in housing and urban-rural construction

On March 31, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development released that it will focus on accelerating the construction of urban rail transit, enhancing urban road connectivity, and improving the level of “smart housing and urban-rural construction”, in an effort to actively propel the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

“Urban rail transit is an essential carrier for efficient commuting and important support for the integrated development of the main urban area,” said a person from the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

To accelerate the construction of the urban rail network, Chongqing will hammer at realizing the integrated development of the main urban area by implementing the fourth phase of urban rail transit planning.

Apart from that, Chongqing will compile the integrated rail transit planning of Chongqing’s main urban area, using urban rapid rail transit routes to build the key commuting channels in the main urban area, and providing urban rail transit service on conventional railways throughout the city. In addition, Chongqing will actively consider and plan to further connect with surrounding cities via inner-city rapid rail transit, and proactively expedite the construction of inter-city fast tracks.

By the means of “smart housing and urban-rural construction”, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development will also enhance the collaborative innovation capability of the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and improve the level of scientific and technological application in housing and urban-rural construction industry.

Steady progress made in Chongqing section of the Dazu-Neijiang Expressway

On March 31, the China Railway 17th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. released that the construction of the Chongqing section of the Dazu-Neijiang Expressway project is steadily advancing in all aspects. It is expected that the Tieqiao Terminal Interchange project connecting the Chongqing section of the Dazu-Neijiang Expressway and the Tongnan-Rongchang Expressway will be completed in October this year, and the whole route is expected to be opened to traffic by the end of 2021.

When completed and opened to traffic at the end of next year, this route will serve as the first main east-west expressway in western Chongqing, which will shorten the drive from Dazu District to Neijiang to one hour, and the drive from the main urban area of Chongqing to Neijiang to two hours.

Jiulongpo Huanglian Port obtains approval for the use of the Yangtze River riverbank

The Huanglian Port (Phase I of Huanglian Operations Area) in Xipeng of Jiulongpo District has recently obtained the approval for the use of the Yangtze River riverbank by the Ministry of Transport and the National Development and Reform Commission, according to the Management Committee of Xipeng Industrial Park in Jiulongpo District on March 31.

“With the nearby railway stations and the Chongqing Ring Expressway, Huanglian Port will foster a multimodal transport mode integrating railway, highway, and waterway, which can further reduce the logistics cost of enterprises,” said the relevant person in charge of Xipeng Industrial Park.

The person in charge stated that the Huanglian Port, located in the middle of the Chengdu-Chongqing region, will further enhance Chongqing’s water-land multimodal transport capacity after its completion. It will also increase the flow of people, materials, capital, and information in the ports along the route, boost the economic development in the west of the main urban area, and enhance Chongqing’s regional radiation capacity to the west.
