Chongqing will focus on the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle by co-building the western science city with the model of “one city with many industrial parks”, aiming to create an innovation center for science and technology with domestic influence, according to the teleconference on 2020 Chongqing scientific and technological innovation, market supervision and big data development on April 1.

“Chongqing should lay its stress on building Chongqing Science City with high standards, implementing the institutional reform and capacity expansion and upgrading of Chongqing Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, and speeding up the construction of Chongqing Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone,” said an official from Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau.

The city is making every effort to build its science city with high standards, by introducing some R&D platforms such as 5G labs of China Mobile and signing some industrial projects such as biomedicine.

Chongqing Science City will promote the construction of major national scientific and technological infrastructure, accelerate the formation of two million-square-meter high-tech business incubators, make a push to propel the infrastructure construction, improve the ecological environment for innovation, cultivate innovative enterprises and develop high-tech industries. Taking the construction of Chongqing Science City as the overall plan, the city aims to introduce and cultivate high-quality, innovative individuals and organizations, to gather talented teams with innovation and entrepreneurship.

Chongqing will also improve the functions of Chongqing Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone through the following steps: continue to bring in renowned universities, research institutions, enterprise R&D centers, and talented high-end teams; speed up the development by supporting the demand matchmaking between research institutions and industries; build a number of comprehensive service platforms for science and technology; accelerate the construction of infrastructure in Chongqing Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone. The purpose is to build the zone into a pioneer concentrating scientific and technological innovation demonstration, incubation of emerging industries, international scientific and technological cooperation, and innovative resources.

Chongqing has been approved to build national pilot zones for the innovation and development of the new generation of artificial intelligence. This year, the city will also strengthen technology integration and application demonstration, enrich relevant technology application scenarios, and seize the opportunity of “new infrastructure” to build new infrastructure represented by 5G, artificial intelligence, industrial Internet, and Internet of Things. Moreover, it will carry out demonstration projects such as intelligent manufacturing and intelligent connected vehicles, and build public service platforms for artificial intelligence, thus building itself into a smart mountainous city with characteristics.
