The China Post China Railway Express 1st Block Train Set Off From Chongqing to Lithuania

Chongqing - On the afternoon of April 3, the "China Post" China Railway Express 1st block train set off from Chongqing, China, to Vilnius, Lithuania. The train delivered 44 containers, including nearly 300 tons of anti-epidemic materials and international mail and parcel gathered from Beijing, Guangdong, and Chongqing to Europe.

Affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, lots of international flights have been suspended, and international routes significantly reduced. Many of the parcels from places like Beijing and Shanghai that need to be shipped to Europe is difficult to transport by air. Among them, many of the epidemic prevention materials need to be transported to European countries as well.

At a critical juncture, China Post, with the support of the General Administration of Customs, has decided to use the China Railway Express (Yuxinou) for emergency transportation. Those parcels were intended to be sent by air through the China Postal Service International mail Exchange Bureau of Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.

The "China Post" China Railway Express 1st block train delivered a total of 44 containers, including 42 boxes of international mail from Beijing, Guangdong, Hunan and Chongqing, and two boxes of epidemic prevention materials requested by the Lithuanian government.

With the support of the Customs and other departments, in mid-March this year, the China Railway Express (Yuxinou) transported four boxes of international postal parcels from Beijing to Europe in an emergency manner for the first time. This is the first time that a large number of stranded international postal parcels have been successfully transported to European countries through the China Railway Express (Yuxinou). This is also a new attempt for China Post and Chongqing Customs.

Based on the previous successful experience, the "China Post" China Railway Express 1st block train delivered a total of 44 containers, including 42 boxes of international mail from Beijing, Guangdong, Hunan and Chongqing, and two boxes of epidemic prevention materials requested by the Lithuanian government.

When the mail arrives, it will be distributed to 36 European countries, including Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Cyprus, and so on.

"The mail sent to Europe used to be distributed in Poland, which took more than 30 days to deliver to European customers. Now it is distributed in Lithuania, which is expected to take only ten days from Chongqing to Lithuania. When the mail arrives, it will be distributed to 36 European countries, including Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Cyprus, and so on." the officer of Yuxinou Logistics said, "The transport efficiency has been greatly improved."

It is reported that China Post has built China's first Railway Port of International Mail Processing Center in Chongqing, realizing the large-scale operation. Up to now, China Post has sent more than 10 million pieces of mail to 24 European countries with a total weight of more than 2,000 tons through railway transport modes such as the China Railway Express.

Li Xiaojuan, the General Manager of the International Marketing Center of China Post, said that it plans to ship one or two block parcel trains every week, which will increase the daily capacity by 50 tons. The freight volume is estimated to account for 70% of the total volume of international freight trains from China to Europe.
