The Chinese mainland reported 62 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, according to the National Health Commission (NHC) April 8. And 59 of them were imported cases, bringing the total number of its kind to 1,042. Also on Tuesday, 137 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported on the mainland, while eleven were confirmed of being infected with the virus and 64 were discharged from medical observation, according to the NHC. A total of 1,095 asymptomatic-infected patients were still under medical observation. The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 81,802 by the end of Tuesday, including 1,190 patients who were still being treated, altogether 77,279 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 3,333 people who died of the disease. By Tuesday, 935 confirmed cases including four deaths had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 44 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 376 in Taiwan including five deaths. A total of 236 patients in Hong Kong, 10 in Macao and 61 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.

During the 14-day stay of the Chinese medical team in Myanmar, collaboration works in the field of prevention, control and laboratory testing against COVID-19 will be done between the Chinese medical team and its Myanmar counterparts. Along with the arrival of the team, a total of 5.3 tons of materials and equipment to be used in laboratory testing and donation of protective gears including 8,500 pieces of N95 masks, 60,000 medical masks, 5,000 medical protective suits also arrived with the chartered flight.
