Experts from Chongqing Medical University Sharing Experience in Curbing the COVID-19 Outbreak

By YULING CHEN|Apr 15,2020

Many anti-epidemic experts from Chongqing Medical University (CMU) have been sharing experience in stemming the COVID-19 outbreak with Hungary, Ukraine, Mauritius, and other countries through online video.

“Quarantine is still necessary for suspected cases where nucleic acid tests are negative,” said Liu Xiaonan, a member of the 8th medical group supporting Hubei and an anesthetist at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, when answering the question from a Mauritian doctor Vikas about the treatment for the epidemic online.

Vikas, who studied at CMU, now works at Javahanano  Hospital in Mauritius. He has been in close contact with Liu since the global COVID-19 outbreak and often asks about the diagnosis and treatment of the epidemic and measures for stopping its spread.

Liu said that he created a WeChat group of professional doctors from CMU departments who had supported Wuhan, to provide better help for Vikas.

Liu and his team members also keep in touch with doctors in many countries, including the US, Barbados, and Nepal, through the Internet during their centralized medical observation and recuperation in Nanchuan.

Amid the changing situation in the global efforts to fight the outbreak, many anti-epidemic experts from CMU affiliated hospitals have been contacting overseas medical institutions and their foreign peers to offer support in knowledge and experience. Professors, including Huang Wenxiang, Zhang Dan, Wang Daoxin, and Jiang Depeng shared their anti-epidemic experience at a recent video conference between Chongqing and Hungary on COVID-19 prevention and control.
