New Energy Vehicle Early Warning and Monitoring Platform Debuts in Chongqing

By YULING CHEN|Apr 16,2020

At 11:15 a.m. on April 13, the new energy vehicle (NEV) early warning and monitoring platform (“platform” for short) newly built by China Automotive Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. (CAERI) made its premiere in Chongqing, which clearly suggested the smooth operation of 175 thousand NEVs throughout the city, as well as their charging time and charging location.

As a third-party platform, its best merit is that the safety of each NEV can be monitored through big data to grasp the operation status of each vehicle accurately.

“Apart from grasping the operation status of each vehicle, we are building an early warning model to monitor the battery safety of each NEV in real-time.” Li Kaiguo, Chairman of CAERI, said that the company is devoting itself to helping Chongqing build a modern automobile industry system through big data intelligence.

Regarding intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs), CAERI also makes the most of big data technology. “The biggest breakthrough we have made recently lies in completing the upgrade of version 2.0 of the scenario library software.” Wan Xinming, General Manager of CAERI, said that the new version had collected 500 thousand kilometers of scenario data based on the previous 200 thousand kilometers of scenario data. The data collected is optimized into software through analysis and integrated into the development system of automobile enterprises.

“The epidemic caused by COVID-19 poses a huge blow to the global economy, but it also brings new opportunities to companies that are well prepared.” Li Kaiguo introduced that during the epidemic, some manufacturers with 37 new vehicles have completed the China Automobile Health Index certification at CAERI. Commercial vehicle brands such as QingLing Motors are also actively accelerating their product R&D by virtue of the wind tunnel laboratory of CAERI.

“Chongqing has attracted increasingly well-known enterprises to settle in with its strong capability in automobile manufacturing and cooperation. The big data intelligence should play a leading role in further promoting the high-quality development of Chongqing’s automobile industry and accelerating the construction of a modern automobile industry system.” Li said that CAERI would step up efforts in cooperating with complete vehicle enterprises, communication operators, and service providers such as Datang and Huawei. In this way, attempts will be made to accelerate the intelligent operation and digital transformation of the automobile industry, and help transform the advantages of the traditional automobile industry into the driving force for future industrial success.
