COVID-19 Update: China Launches Online Learning Platform for Int'l Students

Also, on Monday, 37 new asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported on the mainland, while three were confirmed of being infected with the virus, and 32 were discharged from medical observation, according to the NHC. A total of 992 asymptomatic-infected patients were still under medical observation. The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 82,758 by the end of Monday, including 1,003 patients who were still being treated, altogether 77,123 patients who had been discharged after recovery, and 4,632 people who died of the disease. By Monday, altogether 1,025 confirmed cases, including four deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 45 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 422 in Taiwan, including six deaths. A total of 630 patients in Hong Kong, 22 in Macao, and 203 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.

At the media briefing on COVID-19 on April 20, the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus thanked the many musicians, comedians, and humanitarians who made Saturday's "One World, Together at Home" concert an enormous success. "Ending the epidemic will require a sustained effort on the part of individuals, communities, and governments to continue suppressing and controlling this deadly virus. So-called lockdowns can help to take the heat out of a country's epidemic, but they cannot end it alone," he noted.
