On April 23, Chongqing's Mayor Tang Liangzhi met with the Chairman and Party Secretary of Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFM) Zhu Yanfeng and his retinue. They also attended the strategic cooperation framework agreement signing activity between Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and DFM.

Under the agreement, the two sides will continue to support the accelerated development of DFM and its partners in Chongqing, join hands to build middle and high-end new-energy vehicle projects, and carry out extensive cooperation in the field of auto parts.

As the city’s current epidemic situation keeps improving, the resumption of production and life is speeding up and the economic and social order is restored at a rapid pace, Chongqing is expecting deeper strategic cooperation with DFM. As a pillar industry of the city, the auto industry has a good development foundation and presents a new trend with the focus on consumption upgrading, environmental protection, intelligent application, and gathering and integration. Lately, Chongqing made specific arrangements and deployment at a symposium on the quality development of the auto and motorcycle industry. It will seize the opportunity of national policies made for economic recovery, the strategic opportunity of building the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the opportunity of industrial transformation and upgrading given by the era, and the market opportunity arising from the epidemic situation. The city will also promote the resumption of work and production and strive for transformation and upgrading for long-term development, thus better-facilitating quality development of the auto industry. DFM is a strong enterprise that always maintains a good cooperative relationship with Chongqing. Therefore, the city aims to take the signing activity as an opportunity to attract more investment from DFM. It hopes that DFM could further deepen pragmatic cooperation in middle and high-end new-energy vehicle projects and the resources integration of vehicles and parts, so as to boost quality development of the industry. Correspondingly, Chongqing will ensure premium and efficient services for enterprises in the city.

Zhu Yanfeng also expressed his gratitude to Chongqing for its support for DFM. He said that Chongqing has made encouraging achievements in epidemic prevention and control and economic and social order restoration. The city’s auto industry features a high degree of industrial agglomeration, large market space, and a good development environment. Being paid high attention to the Chongqing Government, the industry has yielded remarkable results in transformation, upgrading, and premium development. DFM is willing to work with Chongqing to seize the opportunity of in-depth adjustment of the auto industry, implement their cooperation agreements, and further expand cooperation space. Moreover, it is going to take an active part in the city’s industrial transformation and upgrading and maximize the benefits of their cooperation projects with a view to boosting the city’s economy and society.

On the spot of the activity, Liangjiang New Area, DFM, and Sokon Group jointly signed the Agreement on Co-building Middle and High-end New-energy Vehicle Projects while DFM and Sokon Group signed the Agreement on Deepening Strategic Cooperation in the Whole Value Chain.
