Recently, Chongqing Returned Overseas Chinese Federation and Sichuan Returned Overseas Chinese Federation signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Chengdu, aiming to serve the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. In the next step, the two federations will carry out cooperation in six aspects, including service economy and technology, cultural exchanges with foreign countries, expanding Chinese overseas friendship, safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese and building high-level think tanks for overseas Chinese, which will facilitate the formation of a new pattern in the work of local overseas Chinese federations and contribute to the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

On service economy and technology, the two federations will attract overseas Chinese business people and scholars from all over the world to participate in brand activities and conferences in Sichuan and Chongqing, to improve the level of economic and technological exchanges and cooperation between China's western inland regions and overseas.

On deepening cultural exchanges with foreign countries, the two federations will jointly hold theme activities, make good use of traditional skills and cultural advantages such as traditional Chinese medicine, intangible cultural heritage, and gourmet, attract overseas Chinese media and cultural industries to develop in Sichuan and Chongqing, and enhance the international influence of Bashu culture.

On expanding Chinese overseas friendship, the two federations will establish a working linkage mechanism composed of local overseas Chinese federations, overseas Chinese-related organizations, and overseas associations, and expand and deepen the Chinese overseas friendship centered on the theme of "historic bond between Ba and Shu, a humanistic tie between Sichuan and Chongqing".

On safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese, the two federations will strengthen exchanges and cooperation in legal services related to overseas Chinese, organize subordinate legal advisory committees to provide rights protection services jointly, and adequately safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Sichuan's and Chongqing's overseas Chinese, returned overseas Chinese as well as their relatives.

On the cooperation among grassroots organizations related to overseas Chinese, the two federations encourage grassroots overseas Chinese federations, overseas Chinese business associations, overseas Chinese youth associations and other social organizations related to overseas Chinese to jointly build and share overseas Chinese affairs resources, innovate cooperation mechanisms, and promote in-depth cooperation in various fields. On building high-level think tanks for overseas Chinese, the two federations will integrate the intellectual resources of overseas Chinese from Sichuan and Chongqing, promote the working mode that links local overseas Chinese federations, university overseas Chinese federations and alumni associations, play the role of the specially-invited expert committees of the two places, carry out research on overseas Chinese affairs, and support the innovation and entrepreneurship of overseas Chinese talent.
