Chongqing Academy of Social Sciences (The Development Research Center of Chongqing Municipal People's Government) and Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Chengdu on May 14, taking the lead in building a cooperation platform for high-end think tanks in Sichuan and Chongqing. It marked Sichuan and Chongqing have taken substantial steps forward in jointly pushing for the development of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

Chongqing Academy of Social Sciences (The Development Research Center of Chongqing Municipal People's Government) and Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Chengdu on May 14.

The two sides believed that social science research institutions are "think tanks." It is the duty and mission of the new think tanks to serve major national strategies and local economic and social development. The two sides should adhere to the principles of resource sharing, platform co-building, and win-win cooperation, pool the strengths of social science researches in Sichuan and Chongqing, deepen exchanges and cooperation in the development of think tanks, discipline cultivation, academic exchanges, and personnel training, ramp up joint efforts to tackle critical problems, improve the quality of researches, enhance service decision-making ability, as well as promote the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and regional sustainable and coordinated development.

The two sides agreed that academic activities would be jointly held, and the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle Academic Seminar will be held on a rotating basis. Meanwhile, they will also support the research institutions, periodical presses, and other bodies to carry out various forms of academic exchange activities centering on the high-quality development of Sichuan and Chongqing. The two sides will jointly launch research projects and muster up forces to conduct investigations and studies on the overall, strategic, forward-looking, and relevant key and difficult issues concerning the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. The two sides will build joint research groups, encourage their major research groups to recruit researchers from the other side, and provide support for joint research groups in project application and research.

The two sides will work together to press ahead researches and shore up the joint research groups or the research group of the other side to carry out field investigation and research. Under the premise of complying with the policies and regulations, the two sides will do whatever they can to provide the necessary guarantee. They will also share research results, including research reports and articles on administration suggestions on the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. In addition, they will jointly cultivate research personnel. On the basis of project cooperation and team co-building, they will establish a two-way mechanism for exchanges and learning among cadres and staff, especially researchers, so as to promote the exchange of ideas, mutual learning at work, mutual learning in conduct and promotion of academic degrees.
