On May 17, a regional cooperation forum was held between the Dazu District of Chongqing and Meishan City of Sichuan Province in Dazu. The two sides signed an agreement on cooperation in the integrated development of cultural and tourism sectors, pledging to integrate local culture and tourism resources, and jointly develop and launch a number of cross-regional customized quality tourism routes in fields such as culture and history, ecological rehabilitation, research and tourism, and leisure tourism.

Dazu District and Meishan City both have a long history, profound cultural heritage, and rich tourism resources. There are famous scenic spots such as San Su Ci (the memorial temple of the Su Family), Wawu Mountain, Heilong Lake, Pengzu Mountain, and Liujiang Ancient Town in Meishan. While in Dazu, there are such quality tourism resources as Dazu Rock Carvings (a world cultural heritage site), Longshui Lake Tourist Resort, Changzhou Ancient Town, Lotus Villa, as well as Longping Colorful Fields.

Compared with the framework agreement, the cooperation between the two sides in the integrated development of culture and tourism is more pragmatic. In the past, to get to local tourist attractions, tourists had to first reach local bus stations and then transferred to another means of transportation here. This kind of "station-to-station" method has caused great inconvenience to tourists and directly dampened their enthusiasm. However, opening general direct routes to scenic spots requires consideration of the market and operating costs.

In the two-way direct routes to tourist attractions launched this time, more attention will be paid to the personal needs of tourists. Based on the peer-to-peer relationship between their scenic spots, the two sides will launch a personalized "group tour" consisting of a small number of tourists (5-10 or so) in light of the reality of the tourism market.
