On June 3, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed by Chongqing Municipal Government and Tsinghua University (THU). The two sides will further cooperation based on the advantages of THU's science education resources, help build a Western (Chongqing) Science City, and speed up the building of a science and technology innovation center with national influence.

Chongqing and THU will carry out in-depth cooperation in such five aspects as strategic decision-making consultation, scientific and technological innovation, "Double First-Class" construction, talent exchange, and cooperation, and industry-university-research cooperation to jointly push Chongqing to build a science and technology innovation center with national influence.

Regarding decision-making consultation, THU will give full play to its advantages in intellectual resources and actively participate in major thematic studies in Chongqing to provide decision-making reference for Chongqing to formulate major policies, plans, and systems scientifically.

In the aspect of scientific and technological innovation, the two sides will jointly carry out scientific and technological innovation led by intelligence and ecological civilization, promote the co-building of a joint scientific research platform, strengthen the research and development of key core technologies in emerging industries and the transformation of high-level scientific and technological achievements, and facilitate Chongqing to strive for a major national scientific and technological innovation base and undertake major national scientific and technological tasks.

In assisting Chongqing's "Double First-Class" construction, THU will strengthen cooperation with Chongqing's universities and colleges, carry out exchanges and cooperation in the construction of discipline and profession, teacher team construction, education and teaching, and support Chongqing's scientific research capability improvement in intelligent technology and system, broadband communication, advanced electronics and optoelectronics, trusted software and big data, biological information, applied mathematics, and other fields.

In respect of talent exchange and cooperation, Chongqing will actively support THU's outstanding talent to work in Chongqing, THU's young cadres, to take temporary posts in Chongqing's Party and government departments, and THU's ability to take internship or practice in Chongqing. THU will actively train business backbones, management talent, and urgently needed expertise for Chongqing through short-term training and order training.

Regarding industry-university- research cooperation, the two sides will focus on strengthening cooperation in such strategic emerging industries as an intelligent industry, ecological environment industry, high-end equipment, new energy, new materials, new-generation information technology, bio-pharmaceutical technology, etc., promote research on key core technologies and transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and help Chongqing to build a strategic emerging industrial base and a high-tech industrial cluster.

On the same day, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Industrial Development Group Co., Ltd. also signed cooperation framework agreements with Tsinghua Holdings, Beijing Jiankun Investment Group Co., Ltd. and Tsinghua Unigroup to actively promote the development of Chongqing's integrated circuit industry.
