At the invitation of the Palestinian government, on the morning of June 10, China's anti-epidemic medical expert team to Palestine set out from Chongqing to assist in Palestine's epidemic prevention and control. The 10-member team was organized by the National Health Commission and assigned by the Chongqing Municipal People's Government. It is expected to stay in Palestine for about ten days.

Members of the expert team are assigned by Chongqing Municipal Health Commission, Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, Chongqing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, and Chongqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. They are mainly members of Chongqing Municipal Expert Team for COVID-19 Prevention and Control with professional fields covering respiratory, surgery, examination, infection, hospital-acquired infection, traditional Chinese medicine, epidemiology, nursing, etc. All of these experts have participated in the first-line epidemic prevention and treatment in Hubei and Chongqing and are backbones with rich practical experience.

The medical expert team has set up four technical working groups of medical treatment, prevention, and control, testing, and nursing. The medical treatment group is headed by Hu Peng, Professor and Chief Physician of Infectious Diseases at Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, and members of the medical treatment group are capable of operating tracheal intubation independently and using invasive and non-invasive ventilators; the prevention and control group and testing group are capable of epidemic prevention policy guidance, epidemiology investigation, laboratory testing, prevention and control of hospital-acquired infection, the standardized setting of infectious disease treatment process and personal protection guidance, etc.; members of the nursing group are capable of intensive care and severe rescue, and can skillfully use and operate various specialized equipment.

According to the work plan, after arriving in Palestine, the expert team will conduct extensive and in-depth exchanges with the Palestine side on COVID-19 related prevention and control measures, clinical treatment technology, laboratory testing, and other aspects, sharing experiences and information. As part of the Chinese government's support to the international community in the fight against COVID-19, the anti-epidemic medical expert team to Palestine will adhere to the concept of building a community of common health for humanity, actively exert its professional and technical advantages, further deepen China-Palestine health exchange and cooperation, and make contributions to jointly safeguarding the international public health security.
