Chongqing Airports Exceeds 100,000 Single-day Ridership for the First Time Since Economic Restart

The passenger throughput of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG) reached 100,016 on June 7, exceeding 100,000 for the first time in a single day since the work and production resumption, according to the information from Chongqing Airport Group on June 10. In addition, CKG secured 823 inbound and outbound flights that day, which was also a record since the work and production resumption.

According to CKG's relevant person in charge, since the COVID-19 outbreak was effectively contained, the airport has been working to both ensure epidemic prevention and introduce a number of measures to facilitate the work and production resumption, achieving a quick recovery of its domestic air routes. In May this year, the airport secured a total of 21,600 flights with a passenger throughput of 2,674,500 and a cargo throughput of 34,300 tons, which reached 82%, 73% and 107.4% of that of the same period last year respectively, increasing by 42.8%, 51.1%, and 11.0% respectively from April. The first positive growth was seen in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to statistics, the main destinations of domestic flights departing from CKG in May included Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Beijing, Kunming, Zhengzhou, Changsha, Lhasa, Tianjin, Jinan, Xiamen, Ningbo, and Sanya. Among those domestic trips, business trips outnumbered tourists and relatives visiting trips.
