Chongqing - In this episode of Chongqing Delicacies, we checked out Huji Trotter Restaurant in the Huangjueping area of Chongqing City.
Before reaching the restaurant at the far corner, we passed the Sichuan Institute of Arts and the Contemporary Art Museum, symbolized by a cool tank. At the beginning of the over 1 kilometer long graffiti Street, we arrived at the inconspicuous but renowned restaurant – Huji Trotter Restaurant. It does brisk business despite the modest decor. The atmosphere is always busy as students, locals, artists, and tourists often come to dine here.
The feature dish is just a bowl of trotter soup, but with an enticing luster and succulent flavor that melts in the mouth. That's the dish making this restaurant so popular.
There are other specialties, such as braised beef and soft tofu. These are some home cooking style Szechuan dishes that can be eaten here.
It's also worth noting that the cold side dishes like bean jelly or green peppers with preserved egg are great. They go down well with a glass of beer as time passes by unawares.
For twenty and some years, the restaurant has been here to serve the delicious food to locals. In recent years, its reputation has got around fast online. More and more people travel far here to try the yummy trotter soup. What remains unchanged is the authentic taste and humble décor.
