Chongqing University's Special Convocation 2020


Chongqing – On June 28, at the wind and rain playground in Area A of Chongqing University, more than 2,000 graduate representatives listened to the “last lesson” of the principal Zhang Zongyi on the topic of “embracing change”. In addition, more than 8,000 graduates can attend the ceremony online and participate in this special convocation.

At 8:30 in the morning, it began to rain at the beginning of the convocation, and all the graduates put on the raincoats.
“Good rain knows the season!” Principal Zhang Zongyi humorously started his “last lesson” for graduates. The rain on the scene was getting heavier, and Zhang Zongyi was particularly distressed to the students present. He decided: “My message, I will only highlight the main points!”

Zhang Zongyi said that life has moved online due to the epidemic including classroom, employment, interview, contract… These experiences in recent months seem to be helpless choices and forced changes. From another perspective, it is full of vitality everywhere, giving birth to new development. Zhang Zongyi brought his insight to the students by encouraging everyone to maintain the attitude and courage to embrace the changes of the times.

Wang Shilong, deputy chairman of the Degree Evaluation Committee of Chongqing University, read out the degree award decision. Chongqing University awarded 434 students with doctoral degrees this year, 4607 students with master degrees, and 5282 students with bachelor degrees.
On the screen of the convocation, video clips such as “The Hot Youth”, “Like Smoke”, “Singing Songs Going Far Away”, “Graduation Message”, etc. were also showing the graduation in 2020, unforgettable campus life and good wishes for all graduates.

Buttarello Lorenzo, an international student from Italy as a representative of graduates, delivered his speech and expressed his gratitude to Chongqing University.
