When we talk about the flea fair in Chongqing, Dongjiaxi Flea Fair, which is located next to Huaxin Street Station of Metro Line 3, is the first one that comes out in our mind. Away from the hustle and bustle of the urban area, it still exudes the charm of common customs and is full of Chongqing's memories. You can find a number of old objects that can bring you back to those old days.
Its predecessor is Zhongxing Road Flea Fair. On December 2, 2010, relevant departments of Yuzhong District announced to ban the illegal markets of Shibati Old Street, among which "Zhongxing Road Flea Fair" was included.
Subsequently, some vendors moved to the adjacent buildings, and the majority moved to a building in Dongjiaxi, Jiangbei District, forming the "Dongjiaxi Flea Fair," which was open to the public on April 29, 2011.
Here lies the city's past
Clothes, watches, musical instruments, digital products, they all can be found in the flea fair. Some appliances look very new, as well as old antiques that seem to fall apart when touched.
People may come here to buy cheaper second-hand goods, or just to take some photos for reminiscence. Several thrift stores on the fourth floor of the flea fair are stocked with vintage furniture, appliances, and digital goods, such as historic speakers and electronic keyboards. They are all at bargain prices so that you might find a favorite item at reasonable costs.
A paradise for vintage lovers
Although it is called the flea fair, most businesses sell used furniture or take-out pots and pans here, so some visitors may be a little confused when they come here for the first time. The real antiques are hidden on the fourth floor, which is a paradise for vintage lovers. This place has everything that one expects to find from a nostalgic thermos, old volumes of the Stories, tape recorders, to black and white TV sets. In particular, there is a special retro camera shop. It is worth a visit for people who love photography or like to collect cameras, and you can buy a retro camera for just dozens of yuan. However, we cannot be sure whether the camera you buy will work. It might be an excellent choice to have it around the house. In our youth time, we all liked to read comic books and listened to music with CDs. These old objects can remind us of precious memories that will never be forgotten, like buying CDs and gossip magazines in the flea market, or watching a classic movie together with good friends while eating watermelon in a summer afternoon.

In the memory of many old-generation locals of Chongqing, Zhongxing Road Second-hand Market, which has been active for 20 years, is a great place to hunt for hard-to-find objects, bargain, and drink a cup of tea. With old home appliances and ancient books as well as pottery, stamps, and other collectibles, this place is not only a paradise for "antique seekers," but also one of the largest second-hand markets in Chongqing.
Today's Zhongxing Road Second-hand Market is divided into areas A/B/C/D/E, which are located on the 1st to 5th floors, respectively. Specifically, area B is the second-hand home appliance market, while A/C/D/E are the markets of collectibles. In addition to refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, stereos, washing machines, RMB (old editions), stamps, grain coupons, bracelets, comics, antiques, and other old items, you can also find a second-hand bookstore that is popular on the Internet here. It was once reported by People's Daily and has attracted many non-local tourists.
