T3B Terminal and Fourth Runway to Be Completed by 2025

On July 7, Chongqing Public Resources Trading Center issued the tender notice of whole process cost consultancy for the construction of the T3B terminal, the fourth runway, and the supporting facilities of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (Section I). This project has an estimated investment of RMB 16.5 billion and an estimated construction period of 36 months.

As per the notice, a 350,000-square-meter Satellite Hall at T3B terminal, and a parallel runway complete with a taxiway system that is 380 meters away from the existing east runway will be built in Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. In accordance with the construction plan for the T3B terminal and the fourth runway, a 350,000-square-meter T3B terminal, a 3,400~3,800-meter-long runway, a 100,000-square-meter freight terminal, and corresponding supporting facilities, and a fully automatic passenger MRT system that is connected to the T1, T2 and T3 terminal areas will be built. This project is designed to handle a passenger throughput of 80 million and a cargo throughput of 1.2 million tons.

Notably, the construction of the T3B terminal and the fourth runway will commence within this year. Once completed, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport will have four runways and four terminals, giving another boost to its operation guarantee capacity and driving force in the surrounding areas.
