July 16 marks the beginning of the hottest part of the summer. On July 6, China met the Slight Heat (the 11th solar term in China's traditional calendar), which will last until July 21. Due to previous crustal movements, two huge extraordinary cliffs stand opposite each other in the scenic area. Between the two cliffs is a high, narrow pass, looking as if it has been knifed. The combination of two cliffs and one pass looks like a giant stone gate, about 600 meters high, 400 meters wide. Because the pass resembles the Kuimen Gate (also located in Fengjie County) in the Three Gorges, it is called "Dry Kuimen Gate."

The bamboo sea at Mingyue Mountain is the largest alpine bamboo sea in western China. It has a bamboo forest of nearly 23,333 hectares, with more than 180 varieties of bamboo growing. With 100,000 negative oxygen ions in one cubic centimeter of air, the bamboo sea is one of China's first forest oxygen bars. In addition, it is known as "Hometown of Shouzhu in China."
