The UKCQ Idol Online Singing Competition Finals, supported by the Chinese Embassy in the UK and the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, co-hosted by the UK-Chongqing Students and Scholars Association and the UK Chongqing Business Association, will officially start at 20:30 on July 11 (13:30 UK time). This event will be broadcast live through the TikTok live broadcast platform, where both domestic and foreign audiences can support their favorite contestants.
UKCQ Idol is open to all students and teachers at British universities, regardless of nationality. Under the challenges faced worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this singing competition has enriched the extracurricular life of students, promoted cultural exchange, and enhanced the international stature of Chongqing.
Against the backdrop of the global pandemic, all members of the UK-Chongqing Students and Scholars Association have done their utmost to serve students in the UK.
In the early stages of the epidemic, active liaison was maintained with the UK Chongqing Business Association to deploy protective materials. Later, attention turned to the physical and mental well-being of students, so coordination was held with the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Committee to prepare a range of diverse and international cultural events.
The UKCQ Idol Singing Competition is a youthful and energetic platform for communication in face of a monotonous and isolated lifestyle under the pandemic.
Since auditions began on June 16th, the organizers have received over 500 entries from dozens of universities around the UK, with contestants from over 10 countries, including China, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
Auditions ended on July 5th, and now the ten finalists who will compete in the live broadcast have been named as Fang Hailin (Warwick University), Jared Campbell (Plymouth University), Gu Yu (London King’s College), Zhang Yue (York University), Shen Chen ( University of Sheffield), Zhou Yufeng (York University), Li Yihang (University of Dundee), Wang Xiaomeng (University of Sheffield), Jethro Coups (University of Nottingham Trent), and Li Yufeng (University of Plymouth).
The prizes for this event are provided by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, Chongqing Changjiang Golden Cruises Co Ltd, HighMark, Chongqing Boxing Club, Imperial water, and the Chongqing restaurants of London. The prizes up for grabs are;
