“We will go to the service station of the community for elderly care when we are free, playing chess, reading some books, and exercising with the neighbors. Life is colorful. It is our station of happiness!” On the morning of July 16, Mei Xinglu, a resident of Huochai New Village, Bengtukan Community, Dunren Sub-district, Fuling District, visited the service station for reading books and playing chess. He had a lovely time. As an affordable housing community, Bengtukan provides residents with convenient and efficient services to make their life colorful as a station of happiness.
Bengtukan Community was formally established in January 2016, providing affordable housing, mainly resettlement housing, low-cost housing, and public rental housing. At the beginning of its establishment, there was no service center and only tens of square meters for the playroom, service hall, and community worker office, thus failing to meet the needs of the people for work, study, fitness, and entertainment.
In early June this year, the newly renovated service center of Bengtukan was officially put into use. The service center, with two floors and an area of more than 2,000 square meters for use, has a convenient service hall, meeting room, service station for elderly, reading room, multi-functional room, dance room, and others, to provide residents with timely, quality and efficient public services.
“In the past, our community was not so well-equipped, and life was boring. It is much better now. The elderly can read, play chess, and exercise at the service station and take a rest in the daycare room in the daytime. Young people can attend lectures at the Citizen School. Children can read and do homework in the reading room. It is indeed for the convenience and benefit of the people,” said Mei Xinglu with glee.
