In the first half of this year, the Western (Chongqing) Science City signed 39 projects, with a total contractual investment of 60.56 billion yuan. These projects will further develop the four leading industries of the science city, highlighting its scientific features.

"Scientific research projects accounted for more than 80% of the contracted projects in the first half of the year. In particular, the contract investment of big data industry accounted for 44.2% of the leading industry projects in the science city," said a head of Chongqing Hi-tech Zone Investment Promotion Co., Ltd. Chongqing Hi-tech Zone, by applying big data intelligent analysis, combining regional development and future industrial development direction, as well as focusing on four leading industries including comprehensive health care, new-generation information technology, advanced manufacturing, and high-tech services, and 13 subdivided fields including digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI), biomedicine and inspection and testing, launched targeted investment attractions. As a result, the leading industries in the science city are becoming more and more concentrated and playing an increasingly growing driving role.

In addition to precise positioning and meticulous services, the head said that there are four reasons for these projects to settle in the science city, namely, strategic support, resource support, industrial support, and policy support.

"The development opportunities brought by the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and the Western (Chongqing) Science City, the aggregation of various resources, the cultivation of related industries, as well as a package of policies on talent and scientific research, have attracted enterprises." The head said that, for example, China Electronics · Chongqing Software Industrial Park is located in the science city because of the supporting facilities of the related electronic information industry and the advantages of universities, resources, and talent in the university city.

Next, Chongqing Hi-tech Zone will make full use of the excellent reputation boasted by the core area of the science city in attracting investment. Centering around large projects and outstanding projects which have strong driving effects and high scientific content, it will take the initiative to cooperate with well-known universities, institutes, and enterprises in the city and beyond, to accelerate further the gathering of high-end innovation resources such as scientific research institutions and scientific facilities.
