Chongqing's Three-Day Export Products Expo Reaches 1.5M yuan Turnover

Chongqing- The export products transferring to domestic sales activity with the name of Quality Export Products Adding Radiance to Pedestrian Street attracted more than 160,000 visitors in three days from July 25 to 27, with on-site transactions of 1.167 million yuan (about $ 167,000) and online transactions of 380,000 yuan, according to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce Thursday.

The shopping expo of Quality Export Products Adding Radiance to Pedestrian Street is held from July 25 to July 27 at Jiefangbei CBD in southwestern China’s Chongqing Municipality.

Three exhibition areas-Service Trade, Subsidiary Agricultural Products, and Consumer Goods were set up at Jiefangbei in downtown Chongqing with an exhibition area of 1,500 square meters. Nearly 100 foreign trade companies were organized to participate. Tens of thousands of products were exhibited, covering electronic products, textiles, service trade, and electromechanical products, agricultural products, automobiles, motorcycles, food, and etc.

At the Matchmaking Meeting for Foreign Trade Enterprises and Domestic Buyers, nearly 60 wholesale and retail buyers from the country,  Chongqing Gome and China Resources Vanguard included were invited to carry out one-to-one negotiations on the purchase of export products for domestic sales. Altogether 23 companies including Yunshan Agriculture reached cooperation intentions, and 10 companies including CITIC Insurance, Hewlett-Packard, and Chongqing Department Store signed agreements respectively on e-commerce service platform cooperation, computer equipment production and marketing, and domestic sales channel expansion, so as to explore the domestic market with joint efforts.

In order to better help export-oriented companies to expand the domestic market, CITIC Insurance and other institutions provided services regarding domestic sales transformation, credit insurance, and intellectual property protection.

As an important industrial base in western China, Chongqing has a solid industrial foundation and a complete range of industries. It has 39 of the 41 industrial categories in the country and is the world’s largest laptop production base with one "Made in Chongqing" for every three laptops in the world.  Since the beginning of this year, Chongqing has been actively doing its best to ensure stability on six fronts and maintain security in six areas, including stabilizing the overall performance of foreign trade. In the first half of the year, Chongqing's export-import volume turned from negative to positive with an increase of 3.5%.

A source from the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce said that in the next step, it will continue to stabilize the enterprises as an important goal, study and introduce relevant measures to support export products transferring to domestic sales, plan and organize Chongqing foreign trade products to carry out tour exhibitions in key districts and counties and cooperate with well-known e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba to help foreign trade companies use online resources to expand selling channels. All in all, multiple measures will be taken to expand domestic sales channels for export-oriented "Made in Chongqing" products. It will give full play to the advantages of the large domestic market and realize a dual-cycle development pattern where the domestic and foreign markets can boost each other.
