It took China-Euro trucks 14 days to arrive in Poland, which is about 9,500 kilometers away. It is the first order of the International Road Transports (TIR) launched by Chongqing Jiangjin Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

The trucks were loaded with auto parts from factories in Vietnam. Through organizing international transfer and repacking as well as cross-border transport, the bonded zone ensured the stable operation of the supply chain for European orders.

As the outbreak of COVID-19 hit the international supply chain and transport lines very hard, there is a surge in orders, making it hard for ordinary trains of China Railway Express to serve the needs of customers. Due to the urgent need of the consignee of this batch of goods, the bonded zone customized a plan for cross-boundary rail-road multimodal transport under the Convention on International Transport of Goods Under Cover of TIR Carnets (TIR Convention). The goods were first transported to the bonded zone by rail from Vietnam for repacking. As Chongqing has no TIR vehicles, for the time being, TOP CHAINS in China and Autopromsnab-Spedition in the Republic of Belarus cooperated in transferring the goods to the TIR vehicles at Alataw Pass Port. Finally, it took these vehicles 14 days to Warsaw, Poland, covering a distance of 9,500 kilometers or so. Chongqing Customs District P.R.CHINA, Nanning Customs District P.R.CHINA, and Urumqi Customs District P.R.CHINA joined hands to ensure smooth transport and timely delivery of goods.

TIR Convention is a universal international customs transit and guarantee system. According to its regulations, road carriers of containers with the TIR carnet and the customs seal are allowed to go directly to their destinations with no inspection, no payment of duties, and no deposits midway.

"TIR simplifies transit processes and lowers administrative costs for customs authorities and transport and logistics companies," introduced the person in charge of the bonded zone. This cross-border transport through TIR vehicles is a strong complement to the Sino-Euro transport system, giving new impetus to the deep integration of Chongqing into the Belt and Road. Later on, the bonded zone will further give play to its advantages of location and trains. By taking itself as the base and integrating the transport modes of water, road, and rail, the bonded zone is going to organize a global supply chain guarantee system and build essential supply chain nodes serving the Belt and Road.
