According to Liangjiang New Area, its foreign investment in actual use was up to USD 1,269 million in the first half of this year, realizing a year-on-year increase of 4.3%.

Foreign enterprises speeding up project construction

In terms of the automobile industry, several key projects progressed smoothly in the first half of the year, including the quality development program of Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ltd., the capacity expansion project of Saic-iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. (SIH), and the high-horsepower engine project of Cummins Inc. After reaching its design capacity, these projects will greatly improve the industrial system of Liangjiang New Area and boost the quality development of its automobile industry.

In view of the huge demand for logistics of the two mainstay industries of automobiles and electronic information as well as the convenience of multimodal transport at Guoyuan Port, Vibrant Pucheng Logistics (Chongqing) Co., Ltd. is also accelerating its project construction in Chongqing.

At the logistics hub of Guoyuan Port, Phase I of the multimodal transport based smart logistics project of Vibrant Pucheng is expected to be completed by the end of this year. It is one of the first batches of implemented projects of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, with a total floor area of about 217,333 square meters and an investment of USD 250 million.

Confidence in the prospect of Liangjiang New Area

Liangjiang New Area boasts the largest number of foreign-funded enterprises in the city, which, to a great extent, suggests that they have been optimistic about the development potential of Chongqing.

The automobile industry and the electronic information industry bucked the trend of the recession in the first half of this year. The former's output value grew by 8%, giving foreign enterprises full confidence.

Located at Yufu Industrial Park of Liangjiang New Area, Nemak Chongqing Automotive Components Co., Ltd. is a wholly Mexican owned enterprise. In the first half-year, the growth of the company's business volume continued unabated, with its deliveries 150% higher than those in the same period last year. Its exports of automotive components reached 50,000 sets, a record high.

Manager of Nemak Chongqing, Li Zhi told the reporter that the company, as a foreign-funded enterprise, had deeply integrated into the automobile industry of Liangjiang New Area. With the growing capacity of automobile enterprises in the next half-year, Nemak Chongqing will also usher in a broader market space.

Besides, Saic Fiat Powertrain Hongyan Co., Ltd. (SFH) also achieved a breakthrough. General Manager of this company introduced that, in the first half-year, SFH's car sales exceeded 30,000, with both the output and the sales volume growing by 18% year on year. The output in May alone hit a new high, exceeding 8,000.

Moreover, the electronics industry in Liangjiang New Area achieved a rise of 5.4% in the first half-year. The person in charge of Chongqing Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited said that the impact of the epidemic on the company's production had not lasted long. As all of the projects have reached the design capacity, the company is expected to achieve an output value of one billion yuan with a growth of 50% this year.
