Chongqing- “This year, we will release a 3D laser scanning radar disaster monitoring application during the Smart China Expo Online 2020,” said Zhou Wensheng, general manager of Chongqing Jiuzhou Starnav Systems, on Wednesday in the weeks leading up to the online expo.

At last year's Smart China Expo, the company released software for safety monitoring and emergency response, which has been utilized for slide alarming since this July when it rained a lot in southwestern China's Chongqing Municipality. Heavy rains probably cause slides in a mountainous city like Chongqing. Chongqing Jiuzhou Starnav Systems, based in Dadukou District, is a systematic solutions provider for the Beidou Navigation Satellite Systems (BDS) equipment and application. Its civil businesses involve safety monitoring, smart Internet of Vehicles, and information technology in aviation. The company is responsible for the operation of eight surface displacement-monitoring points and two crack monitoring points in Chongqing Fengjie County. During the heavy rainfall period in July, the monitoring utility giving data support facilitated the relevant monitoring department to make decisions.
China independently develops BDS. Along with it, there are altogether four major global navigation satellite systems in the world, including the US Global Positioning System (GPS), European Union's GALILEO, and Russia's Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS).
On July 31, China announced the official commissioning of the BDS-3, marking the completion of the "three-step" BDS development strategy, and a new era for BDS to serve the world and benefit humanity, according to a press conference of the Information Office of the State Council. Moreover, BDS services have been used in fields such as transportation, agriculture, fishing, disaster reduction, and relief.
As a platform for showcasing new products, technologies, and business forms of the global smart industry, the Smart China Expo Online will open on September 15. Its theme remains "Smart Technology: Empowering Economy, Enriching Life."
