The Euro-China Green & Smart City Summit is going to be staged during the Smart China Expo Online 2020 (SCE OL 2020), according to Liangjiang New Area on August 17. As one of the six parallel sessions of SCE OL 2020, this summit will be broadcast online synchronously with the expo. Chongqing Liangjiang International Cooperation Center will become the permanent venue for the summit.

Chongqing will host this year’s Euro-China Green & Smart City Summit, following the last four editions held in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Ningbo and Nanning.

This edition of the Euro-China Green & Smart City Summit is sponsored by China International Intelligent Industry Expo Organizing Committee, guided by the European Commission, and jointly undertaken by China Center for Urban Development, Chongqing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, and the Prospective and Innovation Foundation. It is one of the international cooperation and exchange platforms for the green and smart city with the biggest international influence, the most abundant content and the most practical form.

Chongqing will host this year’s Euro-China Green & Smart City Summit, following the last four editions held in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Ningbo and Nanning. More than 300 cities and 100 delegations from over 30 countries and regions have participated in previous editions of the summit.

This year’s summit will combine online and offline forms for the first time, officials, experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and media organizations from China and European countries will be invited to join the online activity and carry out exchanges and discussions on relevant topics, according to Li Jianbin, Deputy Director-General of the Bureau of Economic Operations of Liangjiang New Area, and Full-time Deputy Director of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle Construction Office.

With the Liangjiang New Area becoming the permanent venue for the summit, a non-profit organization for regular and open international conferences will also be established. It will provide a high-level dialogue platform for European governments, industry leaders, experts and scholars to discuss issues such as economic development, smart city construction, population and environment of China and Europe, so as to promote mutual understanding, exchanges and cooperation between the two sides, Li added.
