YPL Pioneers Chongqing Freight Link between Europe and Australia

By JAMES ALEXANDER|Aug 21,2020

Chongqing- Recently, Yuxinou Pacific Integrated Logistics Group (YPL) began the first shipment between Europe and Australia, linking the Yuxinou Silk Road Freight Railway and Asian sea corridors. As the shipment successfully passed through Chongqing on its way to Melbourne, Australia, YPL shared details and experience on this momentous occasion in the history of international logistics.

YPL was established in 2017 with a registered capital of US $20 million, with shareholders being Yuxinou (Chongqing) Supply Chain Management Co. Ltd. and Singapore PLG. They are relying on the advantages of Chongqing railway, air, water, and public transport links as an inland international logistics hub. YPL integrates the rich logistics resources of Hungary, Germany, Poland, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, and other countries to build an international multimodal transport integrated service platform in Chongqing, which serves to gather import and export goods from all over China in Chongqing for collection and distribution.

The first YPL shipment to join land-sea freight corridors leaves Poland for Australia via Chongqing.

YPL mainly engages in the import and export door-to-door service of FCL/LCL of China Railway Express; the cross-border e-commerce FBA railway to Europe service; international air transportation, customs agency, trade agency, warehousing and distribution, multimodal transport and international trans-shipment business. However, the Chinese government had been encouraging companies to join the Silk Road and sea corridor platforms for at least a year.

YPL is the first company to link the two freight corridors between Europe via China Chongqing connecting Rail and Sea to Australia Melbourne. This achievement shows the industry how to connect multi-model logistic channels through china by linking the One Belt One Road (OBOR) and sea corridors to other countries in Asia and beyond.

The advantages of this linked freight route are the value of moving high demand goods quickly as part of a whole supply chain function, and the possibilities for automation in the trans-shipment process. In this case, YPL arranged a rail container to be transported to a Polish shipping factory for loading, and provided an export customs declaration together with the rail booking schedule back to Chongqing rail terminal 2-YPL, where reloading on the domestic rail to Qingzhou port was organized for connection to Melbourne via sea vessel.

At the time of writing, the consignment is loading at Qinzhou and is projected to arrive at the destination port in another two weeks.

Once the shipment arrived in Chongqing, it was transferred to the port of Qinzhou for the sea route leg of its journey to Melbourne, Australia.

The biggest challenges have been to monitor the whole process to ensure shipment documentation is ready for the rail schedule, as well as the reloading connection to domestic rail, which will transport the goods to Qingzhou port for the sea-based leg of the plan.

Any delays can jeopardize the planned delivery date at the customer's end. In the future, there will be a need to solve challenges that arise during the transportation process and suggestions to make to authorities concerning improvements. There is also a need to promote this new trade route to the industry in general. In any case, YPL and partners have broken ground with this critical development, and it is hoped that more partners will join in the near future.
